Networks are a very big and important part of our lives in todays society. Most houses that have a computer have some form of a network. Whether you are accessing the internet on your PC, Laptop, PDA, Playstation, Wii, or Xbox, we can design a network for you. There are two very basic ways to get internet to all devices in your household: wired and wireless.
Wired Network Sample
The first way to get the internet to all of your devices through the same modem is a wired network. Wired networks are beneficial because they are secure by default and they can be faster. This is a sample design of a basic home network that is wired. In this diagram all the hardware in the picture is connected to a central server so they can all access the pictures, music, and video clips. All devices in the network have to be physically connected to the router in order for them to have a connection. The router has a built in firewall to prevent intruders and hackers from getting into your network and collecting valuable data. This type of network design may not always be plausible because it can require running all new CAT cables through your walls to all of your devices. We would install face plates in each room that you would like a connection for future expandability. This way would be highly recommended for a new house that is being built since the wires would be easy to run. Wireless Network Sample
The second way to connect all devices together, and probably the most common, is to use a wireless configuration. Wireless configurations are very commond but they are insecure by default. 70% of all wireless networks are unsecured and can be pentrated by anyone that can acquire a signal from your router. Since your router can emit signal for several hundred feet, people from passing cars could get your signal. This will allow them to get personal information, financial information, and even abuse your connection. All of our network designs are developed to use WPA/TKIP network encryption to secure all data. Any device wanting to connect to your network, would have to input a key before the router would accept it. In this diagram, the family PC and server are hard wired and everything else is using wireless to communicate to the router. Any device with a wireless card can use this secure connection including game consoles. In this diagram, all devices would be able to print to the Family PC's' printer.
